Laura Jean McLaughlin, Christian Kuharik and Carole Stremple will show recent ceramic work. Opening reception March 3, 5-8 p.m. Show will run through March 20. With Special guest Larry Schweiger, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation who will speak and do a book signing of his non-fiction work “Last Chance: Preserving Life on Earth” at the opening. Laura Jean will be showing new ceramics sculptures as well as her cast iron sculptures and linoleum prints

Allegheny Intermediate Unit mosaic mural unveling

This 20 foot by 5 foot mosaic mural was created with the help of over 700 middle school students in 42 different school districts in Allegheny County. Laura Jean guided the students in the design and fabrication of the mural over a 10 day artist in residency program. The unveiling for this mural will be Monday Oct 24 @ 7:45 at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit building which is in the Waterfront of Pittsburgh.

Dedication for Natrona Columns, Sunday August 28, 2011

Dedication for the Natrona Colonade of History will be Sunday August 28 @ 3:30 at Natrona park. Senator Jim Ferlo will lead the dedication. The completed 10 mosaic columns were designed by Laura Jean McLaughlin and Bob Ziller and were created by Natrona community members, Saint Josephs School, Kiski Area Middle School, Highlands Highschool and Middle school. Thank you for the countless hours that the community members and students put into completing these beautiful mosaic columns. Each column tells a portion of the interesting history of Natrona, PA.

Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center Mosaic Completed

Recently Bob Ziller and I completed and installed the above mosaic in Johnstown, PA for the Bottleworks Ethnic Arts Center. The building previously housed the Tulip Bottling Company, hence the tulips. Community members met every Saturday morning since March to glue mosaic pieces to the tulips that Bob and I designed to fit on the facade of the Arts Center Building. The unveiling will be this Saturday July 9 along with a tulip festival and exhibition in the arts center featuring the artwork William Phal, Bob Ziller and I.
